JAMMU, Oct 9: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has allowed eligible District Judiciary employees covered under the New Pension Scheme (NPS) to opt for the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) under a one-time option introduced by the Government.
The benefit will be available to employees appointed on or after January 1, 2010, against posts for which recruitment or appointment had been advertised or notified before the introduction of the NPS on December 24, 2009.
As per the order issued by the High Court, eligible employees must submit their option forms along with supporting documents to their respective Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO) or Presiding Officer by October 30, 2026.
The Secretariat will scrutinise each application and determine eligibility in accordance with the Government’s instructions.
Employees who fail to exercise the option within the prescribed period will continue to remain covered under the NPS.
After approval of eligible cases, the concerned authorities will initiate the process for closure of the employees’ NPS accounts.
