OpenAI’s ChatGPT experienced a service disruption on Tuesday, affecting several features, including Codex, Custom GPTs and workspace analytics, as users across multiple regions reported difficulties accessing the AI platform.
The company said it had restored core functionality but continued working to resolve issues affecting some enterprise services.
According to outage tracking platform Downdetector, reports of problems surged between 1 PM and 2 PM, with nearly 75 per cent of complaints relating to ChatGPT.
Around 12 per cent of users reported issues with DALL-E, while 8 per cent experienced problems with the ChatGPT mobile application.
OpenAI confirmed that the disruption primarily affected FedRAMP workspaces, impacting services such as Codex, workspace analytics, conversation search, Custom GPT search, ChatGPT user invitations and the Compliance Logs Platform download endpoint.
In a statement, the company acknowledged the incident and said it was actively working to restore all affected services.
OpenAI later confirmed that core functionality had been restored but noted that several issues continued to affect FedRAMP workspaces.
OpenAI said it was working to resolve the remaining issues affecting Codex, workspace analytics, conversation search, Custom GPT search and other FedRAMP services, and would provide further updates.
The disruption follows a widespread outage on Elon Musk-owned social media platform X in June.
While OpenAI has restored most core ChatGPT services, it continues to work on resolving the remaining issues for enterprise users.
