
Pune , 29 Jan : Pune Rural Police have filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR) at Baramati Taluka Police Station following the Learjet 45 crash that claimed the life of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
Authorities confirmed that a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident is underway.
Teams from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) are examining the crash site. They aim to determine the cause of the accident.
The Pune Police will hand over the ADR to the Maharashtra Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The CID will conduct further inquiry based on AAIB findings.
Deputy CM Pawar’s final journey has begun in Kathewadi village, his native place. Family members, relatives, and supporters have gathered there to pay their respects.
Authorities are preparing the Vidya Pratishthan Ground in Baramati for the funeral ceremony. Senior political leaders are expected to attend the event.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will attend the ceremony. Other dignitaries are also expected to be present to honour the late leader.
The Maharashtra government has declared a three-day state mourning. During this period, it will fly the national flag at half-mast on all government buildings.
Deputy CM Pawar and four others died when the Learjet 45 (registration VT-SSK), operated by VSR Ventures, crashed near Baramati Airport on Wednesday morning.
The passengers included a personal security officer and a flight attendant. The crew consisted of Pilot-in-Command Sumit Kapur and Second-in-Command Shambhavi Pathak. Authorities have identified the deceased as Vidip Jadhav, Pinky Mali, and Deputy CM Pawar.
Authorities continue to investigate all aspects of the accident as the state mourns the loss of one of its prominent leaders.
