20 Jan : The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has approved Z-category security cover for Nitin Nabin, highlighting the importance of his newly assumed position. The move comes in response to a threat perception evaluation conducted by the Intelligence Bureau.
The Central Reserve Police Force’s VIP security wing will now provide Nabin with constant protection.
Armed CRPF personnel will accompany him during official events, public appearances, nationwide tours, and at his residence.
Z-category security ranks among the highest in the central protection system, second only to Z-plus. This level is typically provided to senior politicians, Union ministers, and other prominent figures facing potential threats.
The security arrangements were first initiated when Nabin became the national working president in December 2025. Following his unopposed election as BJP president, the protection level was upgraded.
Nitin Nabin’s nomination received backing from 37 senior leaders. These included Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
The security protocols mirror those extended to Nitin Nadda, Nabin’s predecessor. They reflect the responsibilities tied to leading the ruling party at the Centre.
At 45, Nitin Nabin is the youngest leader to hold the BJP presidency. He assumed office in a ceremony at the party headquarters in Delhi, where Prime Minister Modi lauded him as a “millennial” leader ready to uphold the party’s vision and India’s development agenda.
Nabin is a five-time MLA from Bankipur in Bihar and has served as a state minister in portfolios such as Road Construction, Urban Development, and Law. His experience combines grassroots engagement with administrative expertise.
Authorities deem the enhanced security essential due to Nitin Nabin’s high-profile role.
He will undertake extensive tours for the upcoming Assembly elections in West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry, while also contributing to preparations for the 2029 Lok Sabha polls.
