West Bengal , 18 Jan : Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised to launch the One District, One Product (ODOP) initiative in West Bengal on Sunday. He said the BJP will implement it if the party forms the state government.
He spoke at a public rally in Singur, Hooghly, emphasising local talent and district-specific opportunities.
“Every district in West Bengal has unique specialties. People here possess skill, intelligence, and potential. BJP will design a plan for each district to maximise benefits locally. If we come to power, ODOP will empower every district’s economy,” PM Modi said.
He criticised the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) for blocking central schemes. He said the state government puts political vendettas above citizens’ welfare.
“I understand TMC’s indifference toward me and the BJP. But the people of West Bengal should not suffer. By denying central development schemes, they are harming ordinary citizens,” Prime Minister Modi added.
Fishermen and Border Security
The Prime Minister highlighted the digital platform for fishermen, launched by the Union government. While several states register fishermen under the scheme, West Bengal has stalled implementation.
PM Modi said he repeatedly wrote to the state government, but officials ignored his letters. “Trinamool is sabotaging the Matsyajibi Yojana, risking fishermen’s livelihoods,” he asserted.
Prime Minister Modi accused the state government of obstructing border security measures.
“West Bengal officials delay barbed fence installation along the Bangladesh border. This negligence allows infiltrators and boosts TMC’s vote bank,” he said.
He also warned that poor law and order discourages investment. “Mafia-style syndicate taxation blocks growth. BJP will eliminate these practices. Investors will find Bengal stable under us,” PM Modi assured.
The Prime Minister pledged a safe, corruption-free, and violence-free environment under BJP rule.
“Women will feel secure. Educational institutions will remain safe. Atrocities like Sandeshkhali will end. Only voters can make this happen,” he concluded.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised economic revival, social security, and political accountability in his speech.
He positioned the BJP as a party that prioritises development, safety, and citizen empowerment.
