18 Jan : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) campaign for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. He will lead the rally at Madurantakam on January 23.
The rally will mark the NDA’s formal entry into the electoral contest.
BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran announced the event on Sunday. He said the Prime Minister will address a massive public gathering in the afternoon.
“PM Modi will launch the NDA campaign in Madurantakam and rally citizens against the anti-people DMK government,” Nagenthran stated.
When asked about NDA alliance partners, including TTV Dhinakaran’s AMMK, former CM O Panneerselvam, and the DMDK, Nagenthran avoided specifics.
He, however, hinted at a visible demonstration of unity at the rally. “All leaders will find a place on the stage on January 23,” he added.
Nagenthran also responded to the ongoing DMK-AIADMK dispute over alleged ‘copied’ promises.
NDA Strengthens State Outreach
He defended the AIADMK manifesto. He highlighted that former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami promised women Rs 1,500 monthly aid in the previous term.
The scheme now provides Rs 2,000 to women. He said people will change their mindset and embrace the new initiative.
Nagenthran addressed claims that the Union Defence Ministry rejected the Hosur International Airport project.
He clarified that the ministry only sought certain clarifications and did not deny permission.
Political analysts say the Madurantakam rally will become a defining moment for the NDA.
The alliance aims to position itself as the main alternative to the Dravidian parties in Tamil Nadu.
The NDA’s campaign promises to be high-energy, with PM Modi’s presence expected to energise party cadres and voters alike.
Leaders hope this move will consolidate support across constituencies and send a strong message to the ruling DMK.
With polls approaching, the NDA is accelerating its outreach. Party leaders emphasise unity, clear messaging, and a people-centric agenda to make a significant electoral impact.
