When Sunita Williams was asked how India looks from space, she replied, “Splendid, absolutely stunning.” Sunita Williams often talks about India. This time, she was mesmerized by seeing India from space. She praised the beauty of India.
“I’ve mentioned it before as a wave that clearly happened when the plates collided and then, as it flows into India, it’s in many different colors. I think when you come from the east into Gujarat and Mumbai and (you see) the fishing boats that are off the coast there, it gives you a little hint, here we are over India. All over India I think I could see a network of lights going from the big cities to the small towns. It was extraordinary to see at night. During the day, the Himalayas were definitely the focus,” Williams said.
Sunita Williams was also asked if she would help with the Indian space program. She said, “I hope we can meet up sometime and share our experiences with as many people in India as possible, because it is a great country and a wonderful democracy.”
Asked about a visit to India, Williams said she hopes to travel to her “father’s country.” Her assistant on the space station, Butch Wilmore, also wants to visit India.
