Uttar Pradesh , 9 Oct : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced plans to rename the Noida International Airport in Jewar, Gautam Buddh Nagar, as Narendra Modi International Airport. He made the announcement at a press conference in Lucknow following a Cabinet meeting that approved 39 proposals, the highest number cleared at a single meeting so far.
The Cabinet passed a resolution honouring Prime Minister Narendra Modi for completing 25 years in public service.
“Under PM Modi’s leadership, the country and Uttar Pradesh have made unprecedented progress, and naming Jewar Airport after him is a matter of pride for the state,” CM Yogi Adityanath said.
Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, along with other Cabinet Ministers, attended the meeting.
The Chief Minister further said the Centre and the state government were working together to accelerate Uttar Pradesh’s development under the double-engine government.
PM Modi inaugurated the first phase of the airport in Jewar. Authorities, however, plan to expand the facility in four phases, with the project expected to strengthen connectivity across the National Capital Region (NCR) and western Uttar Pradesh.
The airport’s expansion will likely support industrial activity, attract investment and create employment opportunities across the state.
The proposed renaming links a major infrastructure project with a tribute to the Prime Minister’s 25-year public service journey.
