SRINAGAR, May 2: Police on Thursday attached the properties of a notorious drug peddler under the Narco Act in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Police on Thursday said that properties including 9 Marlas land and a double-story residential house worth approximately Rs 50 lakh of a notorious drug peddler identified as Shabir Ahmad Sofi, a resident of Mazhama, Magam Budgam district, were attached under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
“The action was taken under sections 68-E read with 68-F (1) of the Narcotic NDPS Act of 1985 and is linked with case FIR No.05/2024 u/s 8/20,22 &29 NDPS Act of PS Kunzer”, police said.
The property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Police.
Under the drug free Baramulla campaign, police have attached the illegal drug properties of 16 notorious drug peddlers worth 5.5 crores in the district so far, they said.
Police have urged people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and warned that any person found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law.
