Adani Ports Sets New Monthly Cargo Record With 19% Rise In August

Sep 2 , 2026 : Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) reported its strongest monthly cargo performance in August 2026 after handling 50 million metric tonnes (MMT).

The latest figure marked a 19% year-on-year increase and represented the highest monthly volume recorded by the company across its port network in India and overseas.

Dry cargo recorded the fastest growth during August, with volumes rising 25% from the same period last year.

Container handling also registered healthy expansion, increasing 15% year-on-year.

APSEZ linked the performance to its diversified business strategy and highlighted the contribution from transhipment operations at Vizhinjam and Colombo.

The company also continued to expand its liquid cargo operations while strengthening its position in dry cargo categories, including coastal shipments.

APSEZ handled 234.4 MMT of cargo between January and August 2026, registering a 16% increase compared with the corresponding period last year.

Dry cargo volumes grew 17% during this period, while container volumes advanced 15%.

The company said the latest operational numbers demonstrate continued progress towards its ambition of handling 1 billion metric tonnes of cargo annually by fiscal 2031.

The strong cargo performance coincided with gains in APSEZ shares during Wednesday’s trading session.

The stock advanced 1.45%, equivalent to Rs 24 per share, to reach an intraday high of Rs 1,670 on the BSE by 12:20 pm.

According to exchange data, the stock has recorded a 52-week high of Rs 1,891.80 and a 52-week low of Rs 1,293.10.

APSEZ has delivered substantial gains over the longer term, with its stock rising more than 500% in the past decade.

The company’s shares have gained around 120% over five years and approximately 100% over three years. Over the past year, the stock has delivered a return of about 24%.
