New Delhi , 21 Aug : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday interacted with CEOs and founders of 20 Indian space startups at Seva Teerth in New Delhi, highlighting the growing strength of the country’s private space industry and calling for greater collaboration to make India a global hub for space technology.
The startups represented a wide range of emerging technologies, including rockets, reusable semi-cryogenic launch vehicles, avionics, satellites, advanced propulsion systems, space and defence intelligence, space debris removal, and AI-powered weather and climate solutions.
The founders highlighted the rapid development of India’s private space sector and shared their vision for its future.
They said their companies had invested heavily in developing indigenous technologies and capabilities while acknowledging the support provided by the government.
The industry leaders also highlighted the growing ecosystem created through government support and collaboration among companies.
They said private participation had opened new opportunities for Indian businesses and encouraged more companies to adopt technologies developed by the emerging space industry.
Congratulating the founders for their initiative and confidence, PM Modi said the participation of private companies had strengthened the vision behind opening India’s space sector to private players.
The Prime Minister noted that several countries either lack the resources to invest in space technology or choose not to make such investments.
He said this presented India with an opportunity to strengthen its position in the global space industry.
PM Modi urged space startups to expand applications and partner with other sectors, including agriculture and environmental organisations, to develop practical solutions and boost innovation.
