New Delhi , 27 July : Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk left Medanta Hospital in Gurugram after recovering from an illness caused by a 26-day hunger strike. He announced that he would visit Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi before returning to his home in Ladakh.
Sharing the update on X, Wangchuk thanked the doctors and medical staff who cared for him during his treatment. He said he had resumed eating, was recovering well and looked forward to returning to the mountains after paying his respects to Gandhi.
In a video message, Wangchuk expressed gratitude to everyone who wished him a speedy recovery and supported him during his stay in hospital. His discharge comes days after he was admitted for medical treatment following the prolonged fast.
Earlier, Wangchuk welcomed former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over the NEET paper leak, calling it a ‘victory for democracy’. He urged the Centre to reform education and governance, praised students, volunteers and the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) for leading the movement, and commended protesters for maintaining peace.
Wangchuk also urged young people to continue upholding democratic and constitutional values through non-violent action.
