Adani Energy Wins ₹8,500 Crore Andhra Pradesh Transmission Project To Power Green Hydrogen Hub

Andhra Pradesh , 24 July : Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) has secured an ₹8,500 crore inter-state transmission project in Andhra Pradesh, marking a significant milestone in India’s clean energy and power infrastructure expansion.

The Government of India awarded the project through a competitive bidding process.

Titled ‘Transmission System for Proposed Green Hydrogen / Green Ammonia Projects in Vizag Area, Andhra Pradesh (Phase-I)’, the project will establish the transmission infrastructure required to supply reliable electricity to upcoming green hydrogen and green ammonia facilities in the Visakhapatnam region.

The transmission network will support an estimated power demand of around 4,500 MW while strengthening the state’s electricity grid.

As part of the project, AESL will add 1,582 circuit kilometres of transmission lines and 10,500 MVA of transformation capacity, taking its total transmission order book beyond ₹80,000 crore.

AESL will execute the project through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), Vizag Power Transmission Ltd.

The company will construct two major substations, including a 4×1500 MVA substation at Pendurthi in Visakhapatnam and a 3×1500 MVA substation at Khammam-II, significantly enhancing power transmission capacity in the region.

The project will strengthen electricity supply in the fast-growing Pendurthi–Vizag corridor, supporting data centres, digital infrastructure and industrial growth.

AESL CEO Kandarp Patel said the project will provide the energy backbone for green hydrogen, green ammonia and future data centre investments through a modern and reliable transmission network.

The company expects to complete the project within 30 months, further strengthening its role in India’s clean energy and transmission infrastructure.
