New Delhi , 30 Mar : Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday in his first official interaction after assuming office. He discussed key development priorities and welfare initiatives concerning the state.
The Governor briefed the Prime Minister on major public health campaigns, including the Drug-Free Himachal initiative and the TB-Free Himachal programme. He stated that these efforts aim to strengthen healthcare outcomes and promote social well-being across the region.
Kavinder Gupta also highlighted Himachal Pradesh’s progress in natural farming. He noted that farmers and orchardists are increasingly adopting chemical-free agricultural practices.
This transition reflects a gradual yet positive transformation in the rural economy.
Governor Gupta stressed the need to expand natural farming initiatives further. He emphasised that such measures will support sustainable agriculture, protect the environment, and ensure stable livelihoods for farmers and allied sectors.
Kavinder Gupta underlined the importance of continued assistance and policy guidance from the Central government. He stated that such support will accelerate development programmes and enhance their long-term effectiveness.
The Governor also called for coordinated efforts between the Centre and the state to achieve balanced growth. He highlighted the need to address challenges in geographically difficult areas through collaborative planning and execution.
During his visit, he also met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He briefed her on the overall situation in the state and ongoing welfare initiatives.
The President conveyed her best wishes for the state’s progress and commended efforts aimed at inclusive and sustainable development.
