20 Mar : Zomato has increased its platform fee by 19.2 per cent, adding Rs 2.40 per order, according to updated billing details on its application.
The pre-GST fee now stands at Rs 14.90 per order, up from Rs 12.50. The revision reflects mounting operational pressures across the food delivery ecosystem.
Rising fuel and energy costs, including LPG and crude oil, have elevated expenses for restaurants and delivery partners. The platform has responded by adjusting its pricing structure.
Zomato last revised its platform fee in September 2025. Earlier, it raised the charge to Rs 10 per order from Rs 6 during the February festive season.
The company initially introduced the fee at Rs 2 per order in August 2023, with gradual increments since then.
Competitor Swiggy currently levies a similar charge of Rs 14.99 per order, inclusive of taxes. The alignment in pricing indicates a broader industry trend towards improving unit economics.
The move comes as platforms prioritise profitability amid escalating costs. Investors have also responded positively.
Shares of Zomato’s parent, Eternal, closed at Rs 233 on Friday, up 1.86 per cent for the day and nearly 7.5 per cent for the week.
The stock has remained down around 13 per cent over the past month.
Financially, the company reported a 72.88 per cent increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 102 crore in Q3 FY26.
Revenue surged to Rs 16,315 crore from Rs 5,405 crore a year earlier, though expenses also rose sharply.
