Kerala , 23 Jan : Prime Minister Narendra Modi undertook a brief but strategically significant visit to Kerala’s capital on Friday. The visit lasted under four hours. It combined governance initiatives, political outreach, and alliance-building efforts.
PM Modi later reflected on the engagements through social media posts that underscored the visit’s broader political message.
The Prime Minister inaugurated several Central government projects and addressed a large gathering of BJP workers. He then held two key meetings that highlighted the BJP-led NDA’s evolving strategy in Kerala.
These interactions focused on social outreach and political expansion.
Prime Minister Modi met representatives of the fishing community, reinforcing the NDA’s renewed outreach to coastal voters.
After interacting with a delegation from the Akhila Kerala Dheevara Sabha, an organisation representing fisherfolk, PM Modi shared details of the discussion online.
He said the meeting focused on Kerala’s development and acknowledged the organisation’s role in advancing fishermen’s welfare.
The Prime Minister stated that the NDA government has worked extensively for fishermen over the past decade.
He highlighted efforts to improve market access and introduce better technology. PM Modi assured that these initiatives would continue with increased intensity in the coming years.
The interaction carried political weight as the BJP seeks to strengthen its presence among coastal communities.
In another important development, PM Modi met industrialist Sabu M Jacob in Thiruvananthapuram.
Jacob’s political outfit, Twenty20, formally joined the BJP-led NDA in Kerala a day earlier.
The Prime Minister welcomed Twenty20 into the alliance and described the partnership as a commitment to transparent and people-focused governance.
Political observers viewed the meeting as a clear endorsement of the new alliance. It also signalled the NDA’s intent to widen its footprint in Kerala by aligning with regional and issue-based groups.
PM Modi also met Swamis associated with the Sree Narayana Dharma Sanghom Trust at Sivagiri Mutt in Varkala.
He praised their contributions to social service, education, spirituality, and community welfare.
The Prime Minister said their work, inspired by Sree Narayana Guru’s ideals, continues to promote equality and harmony.
Concluding the visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked the people of Thiruvananthapuram for their enthusiasm.
The visit assumed added significance after the BJP’s recent historic victory in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, marking its first win in a city corporation in Kerala.
