22 Jan : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has placed internal organisational consolidation at the centre of its preparations for the forthcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, reflected in the upcoming visits of its top leadership to the state.
The party’s newly elected national president, Nitin Nabin, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit West Bengal later this month, focusing exclusively on closed-door strategy meetings rather than public outreach.
A member of the BJP’s state committee said both leaders will meet state-level leaders to finalise the party’s electoral strategy and pinpoint key state-specific issues for the campaign.
Neither Nabin nor Shah will address any public rallies, roadshows, or mass gatherings during their visits, signalling a continued emphasis on organisational preparedness.
Nitin Nabin will arrive in Kolkata on January 27 for a two-day visit. On the first day, he will hold a closed-door meeting with the BJP’s state leadership.
The following day, he will visit Burdwan in East Burdwan district, finalising the details of his programme before returning to New Delhi later that evening.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit on January 30, focusing only on organisational meetings and skipping all public events.
Both leaders will review the party’s preparations ahead of the expected Assembly election date announcements in late February or early March.
This strategy continues the BJP’s recent approach in West Bengal, which prioritises internal planning and strengthening the party’s organisational structure over public rallies at this stage.
By focusing on internal coordination, leadership aims to ensure the party is fully prepared and strategically aligned to maximise effectiveness once the election campaign formally begins.
