JAMMU, Mar 7: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, in his budget speech today, unveiled a significant relief measure, announcing 200 units of free electricity for families under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and transport benefits.
Omar Abdullah said that 200 units of free electricity will be provided to all AAY families in J&K. He also announced that from April 1, women will be allowed free travel in all government-operated transport, including e-buses.Additionally, AAY beneficiaries will receive 10 kg of free ration every month from April 1, and marriage assistance for girls under the AAY category has been increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000. Omar Abdullah further stated that 200 more e-buses will be introduced in Srinagar and Jammu this year to improve public transport.
