
Solapur, Dec 31 (UNI) Unidentified thieves allegedly burgled the residence of senior Shiv Sena leader Prakash Damodar Vankar in Solapur, making off with Rs 15.80 lakh in cash, police said today.
The incident occurred at Vankar’s home in the Rajmudra Residency near Degav. As per the complaint, the burglars entered the house and stole the cash from a cupboard in the bedroom.
Vankar discovered the theft the following day and lodged a formal complaint at the Salgar Vasti police station. He is also the father of Shiv Sena’s Solapur district chief, Ganesh Vankar.
Police have registered a case against unknown persons based on the complaint. Sub-Inspector Kutwal is leading the investigation.
The theft of such a large sum of cash from a political figure’s home has drawn significant attention amidst the ongoing election season in the state.
