Poonch: 29 Jul 25 : The Indian Army conducted an awareness lecture on “Drug Abuse” for teenagers on 29 July 2025 at Surankote, Poonch. The lecture aimed to educate the youth about the ill effects of drug abuse and its serious repercussions on individuals and society. Participants were informed about the symptoms and behavioural patterns associated with drug abuse, along with techniques for early identification. The session highlighted the adverse impact of substance abuse on physical and mental health, social relationships, academic performance and overall quality of life. Specific focus was given to organ damage caused by drug use including the heart, brain and liver. Additionally, the lecture covered topics related to illicit drug trafficking and encouraged the attendees to contribute towards building a drug-free society. The initiative was well received by the participants and reinforced the Indian Army’s commitment to youth empowerment and nation-building. A total of 17 teenagers attended the event and expressed gratitude for the informative and motivational session.
