Red Fort Blast Case: Delhi Court Takes Cognisance Of NIA Chargesheet

New Delhi , 29 Aug : A Delhi court on Saturday took cognisance of the National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) chargesheet in the Red Fort blast case, which claimed 11 lives and injured several others.

The Special NIA Court has scheduled the next hearing for September 9.

The NIA has chargesheeted 13 accused over the November 10, 2025, car bomb explosion near the Red Fort. The agency has named Dr Umer Un Nabi as a key accused, although he died in the blast.

The powerful Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) attack triggered a nationwide security alert and caused extensive damage to nearby properties.

Earlier, the agency filed a nearly 7,500-page chargesheet against 10 accused under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Explosive Substances Act, Arms Act and Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

The NIA alleged that the accused maintained links with Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH). The agency described AGuH as an offshoot of Al-Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent.

The investigation covered Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and the Delhi-NCR region.

Investigators questioned 588 witnesses and examined more than 395 documents along with over 200 seized exhibits and material objects.

On June 27, the NIA submitted a supplementary chargesheet against Zameer Ahmad Ahanger, Tufail Ahmad Bhat and Muzafar Ahmad, bringing the total number of chargesheeted accused to 13.

The agency alleged that absconding accused Muzafar, a paediatrician, helped establish the alleged AGuH Interim module. Muzafar is the brother of Adeel Ahmed Rather and allegedly participated in the wider conspiracy.

The NIA claimed he attended a secret Eidgah meeting in Srinagar in June 2022, where the module formed.

A Non-Bailable Warrant remains pending against Muzafar, while agencies continue efforts to trace him.

The NIA accused Zameer of acting as an overground worker and transporting weapons, ammunition and cash. It alleged that Tufail, a former Lashkar-e-Taiba overground worker, supplied weapons through dead drops, including an AK-47, Krinkov rifle, pistol, magazines and ammunition, allegedly delivered to Umer for Rs 3 lakh.
