PM Modi Praises India’s Para Athletes; Says Their Success Gives Life New Meaning

27 Aug : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday praised India’s para athletes for overcoming adversity and inspiring families and communities. Addressing youngsters virtually during the Khelo India Dialogue, he said their achievements extend far beyond medals.

PM Modi highlighted how para athletes transform perceptions about life. He said their progress gives hope to parents and siblings who witness their struggles during the early stages of their careers.

The Prime Minister recalled champions Sheetal Devi, Avani Lekhara, Sumit Antil, Nitesh Kumar and Jandu Kumar.

He said their accomplishments have filled Jammu and Kashmir and the country with pride. He added that sport can improve quality of life and offer people greater confidence.

Prime Minister Modi also stressed the wider value of sporting discipline. He said sport teaches people to compete fairly, recover from setbacks and rise after failure. He linked this spirit with healthier families, stronger communities and better social values.

The government, he said, remains committed to building a modern sporting ecosystem.

Sports universities and advanced training centres now aim to support athletes from talent identification to international competition.

India is also working with countries worldwide on sports science, coaching and training, PM Modi said.

He described Khelo India Samvaad as more than a sports platform. The initiative allows young people to share views on talent development, governance, the sporting ecosystem and Viksit Bharat. He said authorities would consider these suggestions during policy-making.

PM Modi urged youngsters to use the platform actively and contribute fresh ideas. He said their perspectives would strengthen India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.
