Japan , 3 July : Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi will jointly inaugurate Maruti Suzuki India’s new automobile manufacturing facility at Kharkhoda in Haryana, marking a major milestone for India’s manufacturing sector under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
The plant is Maruti Suzuki’s fourth manufacturing facility in the country and represents one of the company’s largest investments in India.
Maruti Suzuki has invested nearly ₹35,000 crore across its four manufacturing plants, reflecting its long-term commitment to the Indian market.
The Kharkhoda facility will significantly expand the company’s production capabilities and strengthen India’s position as a global automobile manufacturing hub.
Once fully operational, the plant will add an annual production capacity of one million passenger vehicles, making it one of Maruti Suzuki’s largest manufacturing centres.
The expansion will help the company meet rising domestic and international demand while supporting the government’s vision of transforming India into a global production base for automobiles and auto components.
The project will likely generate substantial employment opportunities, strengthen the automotive supply chain and boost exports.
Industry experts believe the new facility will encourage further investment in India’s manufacturing ecosystem and contribute to economic growth across the region.
The inauguration underscores the growing India-Japan strategic and economic partnership. Maruti Suzuki remains one of the strongest examples of Japanese investment in India’s manufacturing sector.
