27 June : Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ) has secured an upgraded Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) rating of ‘84.3’ from CareEdge ESG Ratings.
The revised assessment places the company in the ‘Leadership’ category, reflecting notable improvements from its previous score of 81 and recognising its consistent efforts to strengthen responsible business practices.
The revised score follows CareEdge ESG Ratings’ annual surveillance assessment, which considered the latest sustainability disclosures published in APSEZ’s FY26 Integrated Annual Report.
The agency noted that the company has continued to improve its ESG framework through stronger reporting standards and more effective risk management measures.
CareEdge attributed the improved rating to APSEZ’s progress in reducing emissions, lowering energy, water, and waste intensity, increasing the use of renewable energy, and embedding environmental considerations more deeply across its business operations and supply chain.
The agency also recognised improvements in social performance, including wider safety training programmes, more effective employee grievance mechanisms, advances in diversity and pay equity, and stronger employee engagement.
In addition, APSEZ reinforced its governance standards through active Board oversight of ESG matters, comprehensive governance training and closer collaboration with stakeholders across its value chain.
APSEZ said the latest rating reflects its ongoing dedication to maintaining high ESG standards through transparent disclosures, robust governance practices and continuous improvements in sustainability performance across all areas of its business.
The ESG upgrade follows another positive development for the company after S&P Global Ratings recently raised Adani Ports’ long-term issuer credit rating and the rating on its senior unsecured notes to ‘BBB’ from ‘BBB-‘, while maintaining a ‘Stable Outlook’.
The agency cited the company’s resilient cash flows, disciplined financial management and capacity to support future expansion, bringing its rating in line with India’s sovereign credit rating.
