
Gandhinagar , 31 Mar : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday highlighted the significance of cultural heritage in addressing global instability as he inaugurated the Samrat Samprati Museum at Koba Tirth in Gandhinagar on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti.
Referring to the prevailing global situation, the Prime Minister said the world is witnessing instability and unrest, adding that the message of the museum holds relevance not only for India but for humanity at large.
He described the institution as a centre for Jain worship as well as cultural and heritage preservation, open to people from all walks of life.
Emphasising the spiritual importance of the site, he noted that Koba Tirth has long been associated with peace, discipline and spiritual practice, reflecting a rich confluence of India’s civilisational values. He added that the museum’s design showcases unity in diversity, incorporating traditions such as the Vedas, Puranas and Ayurveda.

The Prime Minister also acknowledged the contributions of Jain saints, including Acharya Padmasagar Surishwarji, who dedicated their lives to collecting artefacts and preserving cultural heritage across regions.

Named after Samrat Samprati, grandson of Emperor Ashoka, the museum presents the evolution and influence of Jainism through its exhibits. It combines traditional displays with modern digital and audio-visual installations to create an immersive experience for visitors and researchers.

Featuring seven galleries, the museum houses rare artefacts, manuscripts, temple models and historical collections, offering a comprehensive insight into India’s spiritual traditions.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel described the museum as a major centre for cultural preservation, while Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi called the inauguration a proud moment for the global Jain community, highlighting its role in showcasing India’s heritage.
