
Malaysia, 7 Feb : Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, where he was warmly received at the airport by his Malaysian counterpart, PM Anwar Ibrahim.
The two-day visit aims to further strengthen bilateral relations and advance the India–Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Children waving the Indian tricolour and the Malaysian flag welcomed the Prime Minister, reflecting the warmth and goodwill that mark ties between the two nations.
Ahead of his visit, PM Modi said discussions would focus on deepening defence and security cooperation, while also expanding economic and innovation partnerships.
This marks Prime Minister Modi’s third visit to Malaysia and his first since both countries elevated bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in August 2024.
In his departure statement, the Prime Minister noted that historic ties between India and Malaysia have made steady progress in recent years.
He said he looked forward to discussions with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to further strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors.
PM Modi also expressed his eagerness to interact with the Indian community in Malaysia, describing the nearly three million-strong diaspora as a ‘living bridge’ between the two countries.
He highlighted their significant contribution to Malaysia’s development and their role in strengthening people-to-people ties.
During the visit, PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and meet members of the Indian diaspora, as well as industry and business leaders.
The Prime Minister’s visit will also host the 10th India–Malaysia CEO Forum, highlighting a strong focus on economic collaboration.
The visit aims to inject fresh momentum into India–Malaysia ties and expand cooperation across strategic, economic and people-centric areas.
