Uttar Pradesh , 25 Dec : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Uttar Pradesh today to inaugurate the Rashtra Prerna Sthal in Lucknow, marking the 101st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna awardee Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The Prime Minister will address a public gathering during the afternoon ceremony.
The government developed the Rashtra Prerna Sthal to honour stalwarts of independent India, conceiving it as a permanent tribute to leaders whose ideas shaped the nation’s democratic and political foundations.
Officials said the complex reflects Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s enduring influence on governance, statesmanship and national development.
The authorities designed the memorial as a landmark of national importance, spreading it across nearly 65 acres and constructing it at an estimated cost of ₹230 crore.
The complex aims to promote civic values, leadership ethics, cultural awareness and public inspiration.
A key feature of the site is the presence of towering bronze statues, each rising to about 65 feet, depicting Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
These statues symbolise their foundational contributions to India’s political thought and nation-building journey.
Museum Showcasing India’s Journey
The complex also houses a modern, lotus-shaped museum covering approximately 98,000 square feet. Equipped with advanced digital and immersive technologies, the museum narrates India’s national journey while highlighting the philosophies and public service of the three leaders.
The museum offers visitors an interactive and educational presentation of India’s post-independence evolution.
Ahead of the inauguration, Uttar Pradesh Urban Development Minister AK Sharma and Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharakwal inspected the site and highlighted the transformation of the area.
Large portions of the land were earlier occupied by a massive garbage dump, creating environmental and sanitation challenges.
Over the past few years, workers removed nearly 6.5 lakh metric tonnes of waste, reclaimed more than 30 acres of land, and converted it into a clean, expansive public space.
Authorities have put tight security arrangements in place for the Prime Minister’s visit, and they view the inauguration of Rashtra Prerna Sthal as a significant step towards preserving the ideals of selfless leadership and good governance. The memorial will inspire citizens and future generations alike.
