Andhra Pradesh , 24 Dec : Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted that, powered by India’s youth, the nation’s space programme is becoming more advanced and impactful.
He emphasised that the increasing capabilities and boost to self-reliance will benefit future generations, strengthening India’s position in global space exploration.
In a social media post, PM Modi celebrated the successful take-off of Launch Vehicle Mark-3 (LVM3)-M6, carrying the BlueBird 6 satellite from Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
He described the launch as ‘a significant stride’ in India’s space sector and praised the heavy-lift performance of LVM3, which lays the foundation for future missions such as Gaganyaan, expands commercial launch services, and deepens international partnerships.
A Historic Milestone in Payload Capacity
The LVM3-M6 mission carried BlueBird Block-2, the heaviest satellite ever launched from Indian soil, weighing 6,100 kg into Low Earth Orbit (LEO).
The previous record-holder, LVM3-M5 Communication Satellite 03, weighed 4,400 kg and was launched successfully in November 2025 into Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO).
This milestone further demonstrates India’s strengthened heavy-lift capability and growing role in the global space market.
BlueBird Block-2 represents the next generation of communication satellites, designed to deliver space-based cellular broadband directly to standard mobile smartphones.
Moreover, the satellite’s massive payload will provide high-speed 4G and 5G connectivity, marking a significant leap in India’s telecommunications capabilities.
PM Modi congratulated ISRO’s scientists and engineers, acknowledging their dedication and innovation.
He further stressed that the mission reflects India’s commitment to Aatmanirbhar Bharat, highlighting the critical role of young talent in driving scientific progress and technological self-reliance.
The LVM3-M6 launch marks the sixth operational flight of the LVM3 vehicle and reinforces India’s growing capabilities in space exploration, commercial launches, and telecommunications infrastructure.
PM Modi’s statements underline the government’s focus on empowering youth, expanding India’s space frontier, and contributing to global scientific collaboration.
