Srinagar, Nov 19: With temperatures plunging across the Kashmir Valley, the Education Department has announced that winter vacations for students from Nursery to Middle classes will commence from the first week of December.
Education Minister Sakina Itoo said that the decision was taken after reviewing the prevailing cold conditions and consulting with schools across the region. “We have held a meeting regarding this and winter vacations for Nursery to Middle classes will commence from the first week of December,” she told reporters.
The minister also addressed concerns raised by parents and schools regarding textbooks and other academic requirements. “Necessary directions have been issued and the department is closely monitoring the academic calendar to ensure minimal disruption amid worsening weather,” she added.
Notably, the early winter break aims to safeguard students from harsh weather while balancing academic schedules. Parents and teachers welcomed the move, noting that it would allow children to stay safe and healthy during the coldest months.
