JAMMU, Feb 6: Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district have launched separate enquiries into the death of a Gujjar youth, following allegations of custodial torture.
Kathua District Magistrate Dr Rakesh Minhas has ordered a magisterial probe into the death of Makhan Din, a resident of Billawar. Police, however, claim that Din took his own life by consuming insecticide at home on Tuesday evening.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police has also appointed DIG JSK Range Shiv Kumar Sharma as the Head of a Fact Finding Committe to ascertain the reasons behind the death of the youth and submit his report within 10 days.
