Jammu, July 2: Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday paid obeisance at the revered Ram Mandir here and prayed for the happiness, well-being and prosperity of the people.
The centuries-old temple in Jammu serves as the refuge for seers undertaking the annual Amarnath Yatra.
More than 400 sadhus and sadhvis have arrived at the temple in Purani Mandi area, before embarking on their journey to the cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas.
The Lt Governor extended his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the seers embarking on the pilgrimage.
Mahamandleshwar Mahant Rameshwar Dass, MLAs Yudhvir Sethi and Kuldeep Raj Dubey, religious leaders and senior government officials accompanied the Lt Governor during the visit.
The 57-day Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to commence July 3 on the 48-km Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag district, and the steeper 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal district. The pilgrimage will conclude on August 28.
