Amit Shah Says Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) Depend On Vote-Bank Politics Linked To Infiltration

Maharashtra, 20 June : Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah on Saturday accused Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray of pursuing politics centred on infiltrator-based vote banks.

Addressing a gathering in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, Shah asserted that India cannot be treated as an open shelter for illegal entrants and said the Centre is taking every necessary step to protect the nation’s borders and internal security under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

He stated that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance has widened its political footprint across the country during the last 12 years under PM Modi’s stewardship.

Shah remarked that many political observers once questioned the BJP’s ability to expand in West Bengal.

The Home Minister also vowed to tighten border security and take action against illegal infiltration through the state’s borders.

Highlighting the government’s accomplishments, Shah said the PM Modi administration has ushered in a transformative period that will hold a significant place in India’s post-Independence history.

He credited the government with accelerating growth in villages and cities, strengthening cooperative institutions, supporting farmers through the dairy sector, and advancing manufacturing through policy reforms.

According to Shah, India has also made notable strides in emerging fields such as semiconductors, quantum technologies, software services, and data infrastructure.

He further pointed to initiatives such as the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, restoration works at Kedarnath and Badrinath, and redevelopment projects at prominent religious sites across the country.

Shah said the government’s guiding principle of ‘Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi’ seeks to balance modern development with the preservation of India’s civilisational heritage.

He added that the ongoing rejuvenation of Jyotirlingas and Shakti Peethas in Maharashtra reflects a broader effort to strengthen and celebrate the nation’s cultural identity.
