France , 17 June : Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the progress made in peace efforts in West Asia during his address at a session on ‘Forging New Partnerships and Rebuilding International Solidarity’ at the G7 Summit in Evian, France.
He noted that the conflict in West Asia has resulted in significant loss of life and property among friendly nations and has disrupted maritime trade, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, thereby affecting the global economy.
He stressed that international partnerships and global solidarity can only be effective when nations work together to address shared challenges.
PM Modi underlined India’s belief that lasting solutions to global conflicts can only be achieved through dialogue, diplomacy and international cooperation.
He expressed concern over the impact of ongoing tensions on civilians and highlighted the responsibility to ensure the safety of seafarers who sustain global maritime trade.
He emphasised the need to keep sea lanes secure and free, allowing uninterrupted movement of global commerce.
PM Modi said India is ready to work with global partners to strengthen maritime security and address emerging challenges.
He noted that misuse of trade and technology has deepened a global trust deficit, stressing that the world’s real shortage is not resources but trust.
Reaffirming ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, he said India continues to place humanity first and focuses on inclusive, people-centred development while supporting global cooperation and a rules-based order.
