Religious Importance of the Day
Devotees worship Goddess Durga in her Chandraghanta form on the third day of Navratri. She is depicted with ten arms, holding weapons and a lotus, while also offering protection through her blessing gesture.
She represents both calmness and strength, and followers believe that her blessings provide courage, peace, and success. The crescent moon on her forehead gives her the name Chandraghanta, and she is regarded as a remover of obstacles who grants inner strength.
Devotees gathered in large numbers at temples across India to offer prayers. Many arrived early in the morning to stand in queues and seek divine blessings.
Navratri, which also translates to ‘nine nights’, is a major Hindu festival dedicated to Goddess Durga and her nine forms, collectively known as Navdurga. The festival is observed with devotion across the country through prayers, rituals, and cultural traditions celebrating the Goddess.
